Product Feature: Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush

“I can’t get my hands off this blush.”

img_20180529_1222265173247806883322293.jpg

I have alternated between this Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush (in hush blush) and just one other product since I received this in my March Boxycharm. Tbh, I am v thankful I didn’t receive the other shade of this product that was distributed, as that hot pink would not have done well for me and my pasty complexion.

The shade I received is hush blush and it. is. perfection. This is a medium-toned rose color that is very flattering and easy to blend out. I get home at 5:30 pm and still see this on my cheeks. It doesn’t fade and honey – IT 👏🏻 WILL 👏🏻 LAST 👏🏻 YOU.

img_20180529_1221412527039730904894142.jpg

Retailing at $26, I think the price is very fair. I have used it almost every day for over two months and it’s not showing signs of hitting pan (as it shouldn’t). It is a beautiful color, blends easily for us beginners, and contains a lot of product. I will happily pay the $26 for this.

Would I repurchase? I think when I run out, yes! I really love it and it has become a staple item in my collection (as I sit in our beach house & it’s packed in my makeup bag upstairs). It is great quality and I tip my hat to Pretty Vulgar for making a *blushing* entrance into the world of cosmetics.

RECAP:

  • blends like a dream
  • medium rosey shade
  • decently priced
  • nice packaging & large quantity of product

Do I have any Boxycharm lovers out there? What were your thoughts on this blush – what shade did you get? Has anyone else tried this? Let me know your thoughts so I can ramble on some more about this!

Boxycharm Review: April 2018

“My Dr. Brandt product was worth 2.5x what I paid for this box.”

Today we’re talking about April 2018 BOXYCHARM products! And I don’t typically start off a post with an exclamation mark so I must be excited!!! Lol.

No, but seriously, let’s just jump right in.

First up, let’s talk about the elephant in the room, the $47.00 Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum face mask.

It’s no secret that this product alone is worth roughly 2.5x the box’s cost (which is $20/month). This, by itself, is such a steal. I think I immediately enjoyed this mask the first time I used it. It applies as a clear jelly-like consistency, with tiny blue beads that massage into your skin. Once dried down, it turns a light blue color and has a chalky smooth feel to it. I love the feeling, as when it dries down it’s very cooling on the skin.

My skin feels GREAT after using this product – silky smooth and declogged. I’ve been using this face mask for 1-2 times a week about the last 3 weeks. I don’t notice a change in my shine-factor – which is no surprise since I’m oily af. But I do feel cleansed, and I will continue to use this up.

Second, I received my VERY FIRST MAC PRODUCT. Okay okay okay I know, all my beauty gurus are out there are like ‘are you joking‘… but no, I have never bought myself a MAC product. And I know it sounds as ridiculous as I feel typing it.

MAC Liptensity Lipstick in the shade ‘burnt violet’ runs $21.00.

This lipstick is very, very creamy. I gotta be honest I’m super hype to have this lipstick in my collection but I am just wondering… WTF is up with the shade? I barely have the balls to wear something bold in the fall let alone the middle of April. With that being said, I am still very excited to have this in my arsenal and will certainly work it into a fall look of 2018 – even tho it looks a teensy weensy bit streaky swatched but it’s fine we’ll make it work.

Next up is from The BrowGal – Instatint brow gel in light blonde – $22.00 on their website.

This product did not 👏🏻 come 👏🏻 to 👏🏻 play. I can’t believe how much this one shook me. One look at it and I was thinking, “this is too light for my eyebrows,” but no honey it builds up extremely nicely. This filled in my brow so quickly and is 100% fool proof.

I’m a girl who doesn’t even do my brows so for me to like this is saying something. I will continue to use it – I’m impressed!

I’m so happy to receive the Colourpop Element of Surprise eyeshadow palette which doesn’t take a whole paycheck to splurge on (thank you, Colourpop 🙏🏻 ).

As you can see, this palette really is an element of surprise. You get a splash of pink and a couple holographic shimmer shades to ‘wow’ on the lid. Yet this palette still includes a couple natural shades with a dark creamy brown to darken the outer crease – everything you need to create a one-palette look. I love Colourpop eyeshadow palettes so it’s no surprise to anyone that I love this one too. I will always accept a CP palette into my collection no matter the lack of space.

Lastly are these adorable SLMissGlam eyeshadow brush duo for $38.50 (currently sold out).

This value and the Dr. Brandt items make me never want to quit Boxycharm if I’m honest. First, the look – so beautifully gorgeous! These brushes are a staple for any gal’s growing makeup vanity collection.

Secondly, the purple-tipped brush is coming for my Beau Gachis tapered blending brush (which, btw, I’m obsessed with). It is so soft and I love how flimsy it is for blending shades into my crease. This is also a phenomenal brush to smooth and blend out any harsh colors as it distributes your crease shade SO. NICELY. Ugh – I’m so happy to add these brushes to my collection.

And that’s the box review today! This was a bit of a lengthy post – I think I’m a little chatty. Work has been stressful so I come here to release a bit of stress and anxious-ness. I hope all you lovely readers enjoyed (if you made it to the end). Thanks for stopping by.

Mini Colourpop Haul: ft. Kathleen Lights “Dream Collection”

“I purchased this before I even watched
her YouTube video debuting the collection #invested”

IMG_20171226_130113

Update: I filmed a little tut for the first time ever on my Instagram in case you’d like to see a look with this eyeshadow palette!

I.. AM.. SO.. EXCITED! … to be writing about this collection.

Full Disclaimer: I did not buy the entire collection (I skipped out on the gloss and orange-red lippie). Instead, I bought her Dream St. eyeshadow palette and Dreamy satin lip.

TheseImage result for clap emoji productsImage result for clap emoji doImage result for clap emoji notImage result for clap emoji disappoint.

IMG_20171226_125933

I was already a huge fan of Colourpop’s satin lips.
Reasons why:

  • $6
  • creamy, satin-y finish
  • pigment that lasts for hours
  • insane selection of colors
  • SIX DOLLARS

IMG_20171226_130725 IMG_20171226_131528

This was, however, my first eyeshadow purchase *gasp* I know, idk how I lasted so long without buying eyeshadow from this brand but alas, here we are. And guess what, they’re as good as the YouTubers say they are – they weren’t lying. The pigment is there, blendibility too, the price point is better than you could “dream” of.. ha ha ha.

IMG_20171226_130547

But really, this collection is not something to “sleep” on – LMAO.

And as if these purchases didn’t already seal the deal, this Flexitarian super shock cheek highlighter came in to steal the show – LIKE HOLY S*#@, it’s flex’n good.

  • it’s creamy
  • it blends
  • it highlights to the Gods
  • IT’S SIX DOLLARS

IMG_20171226_130642

IMG_20171226_131315

I approve their lippie stix, satin lips, eyeshadows, and highlighters. I’ve heard great things about their concealers and brushes. Needless to say, this won’t be my last purchase from them.

Round of applause for Colourpop and Kathleen Lights Image result for clap emoji

My FIRST Boxycharm Review

“I have a new reason to write about makeup on a monthly basis.”

IMG_20171119_134117_904

So I tried Ipsy for a year – loved it. Have nothing but positive things to say about it. My “problem,” or rather, reason for switching over was mainly to receive full-size products. Having samples is fabulous, don’t get me wrong. Small samples of high-end makeup is perfect for experimentation before you splurge.

HOWEVER.

However… I was extremely excited to sign up for Boxycharm. I do want to put it out there, it took about 5 weeks to get off the waitlist. Based on my experience, you can’t just sign up and expect that month’s box. Might not be the case for everyone, but that’s just what happened to me.

Boxycharm is a box of 4-5 full-sized makeup products and costs you $21/month. Most of the time a single item will already cover the cost of the box, but if not then two products will definitely exceed the $21 you pay.

I received a beautiful full-size eyeshadow palette, setting mist, lipstick, travel set of four eyeshadow brushes, and three lips masks. GREAT brands too, by the way! Luxie and Cover Fx are pretty popular atm.

So let’s get to the good stuff, what did I think?!

  1. Winky Lux Kitten Eyeshadow Palette – retails for $25.00

This palette is awesome. I really like it. The quality is there, and you better believe the pigment is too. I really like the color selection, and think you can get a nice combination of natural and bold looks with this palette. There is a perfect shade for me to set my eyeshadow primer, as well as several darker colors to bolden an eye look.

IMG_20171203_211842

The metallic gold shade (second row, right-hand side) is out of this world – see swatches below. This 9-shade palette has a crease shade, deeper colors for the outer-v and crazy pops of color with the gold and blue. Everything blends incredibly well and creates a flawless finish on your eye look.

2. Cover Fx Illuminating Setting Spray – retails for $31.00

IMG_20171203_212643

You must shake this up first. I repeat: you need to shake this. Otherwise, you will have a pile of glitter on your face. Attractive, right? No, not unless you’re trying to look like a New Year’s Eve explosion at midnight.

With that being said, the mist on this is extremely fine – and I really like that. No one really wants a squirt to the face. This lays nicely on the skin and does give a dewy glow. I’m particularly oily, so I’d only use this before going out at night when I won’t be wearing makeup for a full day.

3. Luxie Brush Travel Quad – I can’t find this on their website

IMG_20171203_212616

These are fabulous. I can’t say enough positive things about Luxie’s brushes. They blend nicely, travel easily, and don’t disappoint. Ever. You can tell in the picture above that I get good use out of them (yes, they need cleaned).

4. KNC All Natural Collagen Infused Lip Mask (set of 3) – a set of 5 retails for $25.00

These.. okay these. I would not recommend. I didn’t notice a difference, they are SO BIG over my mouth and chin, and the tingly sensation skeeved me out. For $5 a pop and no real improvements in the moisture/plumpness of my lips, they’re not worth it in my opinion.

5. Laq A & Co Cloud Lips in Storm – retails for $17.00

IMG_20171203_212711

This is a gorgeous stormy shade of a deep reddish purply plum. Does that make sense? Okay good. This is super comfortable to wear on the lips but I highly recommend a lip liner underneath. She is not easy to apply without one and you need to draw a line before you color inside, capisce??? I like this though; it transfers, but the color is gorgeous and well worth it.

Would look fabulous paired with a vampy eye look.

IMG_20171209_145454.jpg

And that’s everything for my first Boxycharm box! I LOVE IT ALL. I’m very happy with my first box. I could leave out the lip masks and still be completely satisfied with the remaining four products for $21/month.

Have you tried Boxycharm or Ipsy? Do you have a preference? Is Boxycharm worth the extra $10/month for you? I’d love to know!

REVIEW: June Ipsy Bag

“I know this review is late please forgive me.”

The June bag was pretty bangin’, not gonna lie. Maybe that’s why it took me so long to post? Obsessed with the products… ya know? Not cutting it? Fine we’ll hop to it.

The bag last month might have created yet another must-have favorite to add to the Ipsy Hall of Fame for me. And honestly, we’ll just jump right into it…

  1. Hey Honey Uncover Detoxifying Mud Mask retails for $54.00
I’m not going to sugar-coat it, this mask is hella expensive. Some would say way too many dolla bill$ for the product. HOWEVER, please allow me to explain why this could become a new holy grail.
    – does not dry super tight on your skin – it moreso dries to a “glazed” appearance
    – a little product goes a long way, with a rather thick consistency that feels like it is soaking up impurities in the skin
    – there are tiny microbeads that give this mask a gritty feel as you wash it off, allowing for a gentle exfoliation while you massage the mask into your skin
Cut to the chase, what have you noticed? I have literally noticed better skin the next morning. My pores appear smaller, I don’t see as many blackheads, and my makeup looks incredibly smooth and poreless. It’s a dream of a product and (unfortunate for my wallet) I will be repurchasing.

Snapchat-261111581

ALSO – if you want to buy anything from Hey Honey’s website this month, you can get 20% off with Ipsy’s code: HeyHoneyUncover

2. City Color Cosmetics Shimmer Shadow in “Cheers to Life” retails for $3.99
THIS. IS. SO. PIGMENTED. clap_pzfqtq
I even saved a snapchat I sent my friend right after swatching this. I’m going to also throw this in here: it was one swipe of the shadow on my arm. Incredible color and such a vibrant bronzy shade that I could see being versatile for all skin tones.

3. Beauty For Real I-LINE 24-7 Eyeliner in “Chocolate Fix” retails for $14.00
I actually really like this. It has an intense vibrancy to it and feels very creamy upon application. I received the color Chocolate Fix which is a rich dark brown perfect for tight-lining and/or the water line. I don’t even do either of those techniques on my eyes but this liner makes me want to.

IMG_20170710_195202

4. NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé in “Plush” retails for $6.00
I wasn’t a fan of this. Could be because I gravitate towards matte lippies and tend to steer clear of pinky pinks, but I also didn’t enjoy the application of this product. It wasn’t full-blown pigment in your face, it was a little more streaky. I might find better luck using this as a cheek pigment instead!

IMG_20170710_200124

5. theBalm Cosmetics Balm Spring Blush retails for $21.00
I wanted to like this more, I really did. The color and tone are everything, nice and nude but enough color for a pale girl (hi, me over here). And it might be the size of the pan or something else but I can’t get into this blush! It doesn’t really show up on my cheeks and it swatched terribly from the small Ipsy sample. Did anyone else have this issue? Idk but for $21.00, I ain’t purchasing it waving-hand-sign.png

IMG_20170710_200317

So that was everything in my Ipsy bag for the month of June! Besides a sample size of the Dr. Brandt Pores No More primer – which I finally cashed in some Ipsy points for. Pays to review your products, people! GWylEE2h_400x400.png

Did you get the same product/s in your Ipsy bag? What were your thoughts? Were you happy with the items? Underwhelmed? Let me know – I love to chat about it.

First Impressions: Sephora Mini Haul

“That was a v successful trip to Sephora.”

1
Today’s mini haul was brought to you by a gift card I’ve kept for the sole purpose of, well.. a “mini haul.” Because let’s be real – this isn’t large enough to be considered a haul.

ANWAYS.

I got a little bit of face, eye primer, lips, and cleaning product to talk about today fam! Time to dive on in.

First up on the list (also my most anticipated item), the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. This retails for $28.00 at Sephora. I went in, got shade matched, was feeling on top of the world, then found out “Alabaster” was sold out in Sephora. FEAR NOT my friends because you bet your ass I was running to the Clinique counter at the nearest Macy’s for a quick purchase. And so I got my hands on it.

4.png

My thoughts:

  • definitely lives up to the full-coverage claim
  • blends very easily, at least with a brush
    – does dry down a little quickly, so I do half my face at a time
  • lasts all day – though I still get shiny in my t-zone, nothing new there
  • if you’re not careful, can appear the slightest bit “cakey,” but it’s nothing a spritz of setting spray can’t fix!

Next was another highly anticipated item for me, the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. This costs $26.00. Casey Holmes often raves about this on YouTube, and since we share the trend of oily eyelids, I figured I’d spend a little extra $$ and give it a shot.

5

My thoughts:

  • AWESOME
  • easy to apply, easy to set
  • controls the oil-production on your eyelids
  • eyeshadow lasted really well the first time I used this

Then we have our ever so highly recommended brush cleaner from Laura Lee! The Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner is available in a travel size for $8.00 (for all my peeps out there wanting to stick your toe in and not dive head first).

8

7
My thoughts:

  • cleans brushes INSTANTLY
  • easiest product to use
  • for the ease at which you can clean your brushes, I’m willing to say it’s worth the price tag, and I plan to buy the value size next (which I’m sure will last a long time)
  • I actually did a full review of this brush cleaner here!

Lastly, and certainly not least, the new Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick! I saw Rachhloves rave about this in a recent video and recommend the shade Salt Lyfe, and when I heard it once more in another YouTube video, I didn’t need to be told a third time. This costs $21.00 in Sephora.

3

My thoughts:

  • I am in love with this shade, formula, everything
  • This is one of my first “higher end” lipstick purchases, and I’d be more than happy to buy a second shade
  • I wore this out during a night of drinking and dancing Image result for dancing girl emoji, and it held up fairly well, but you should definitely keep it in your purse to re-apply
  • For those looking to save some dolla bills – I think a solid dupe for these are the
    e.l.f. Moisturizing Lipsticks for $3.00

So that’s that! Have you tried any of these products? Know of any dupes for less cash money? Please let me know if you do.

The Best of IPSY

“I will continue to repurchase and repurchase.. and repurchase these items.”

These are my tried and true, my most reliable products I’ve received from Ipsy. These are also the products Ipsy has successfully sold me on, which I imagine is their game plan considering they offer monthly discounts for certain beauty brands they promote.

There are a mix of drugstore/high end in this round-up, which I think my readers will appreciate. Some prices are low whereas others take a few paychecks to save up (unless you’re like me and willing to wait for a holiday and a Sephora gift card).

Enough about the intro.. let’s get into this!

  1. Tarte Maracuja Oilfull size retails for $48.00
This was an absolute sell for me. I wholeheartedly love this product and received the travel size in my December 2016 Ipsy bag. I have used this product mostly every night since I received it (probably 90% of the time), and am just now halfway through it. The travel size retails at $15, well worth spending your money. This oil soothes, hydrates, and balances out my skin in ways I didn’t know possible. Full review here if you want to know all of the benefits I’ve seen and how to use it!

    img_20170115_142756

  2. Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasionfull size retails for $79.00
It pains me to include this product because.. well.. $$$ but, I simply must! Dr. Brandt knows what the f*#k they’re doing. I have not found another exfoliator on the market with such finely milled exfoliating beads as this one. The light peppermint scent is enough to relax and soothe your mind. After washing off this product, you’ll notice the softness in your skin as it seems the exfoliator doubles as a hydrator. I love the feeling. I’m not sure that there is a travel size, but if there is that is what I’ll be repurchasing b/c a little goes a long way – and I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to justify $80 on a skincare product (LOL).

    IMG_20170326_210008

  3. IT Cosmetics Superhero mascarafull size retails at $24.00
Let me just say this: you can get a sample size of this mascara to try at Ulta for $10 in the checkout aisle. Let me then say this: do it!! You pay almost $10 or more at the drugstore for mascara anyways, so spend the $10 on a high-end brand in Ulta that has a decent amount of product as well. This mascara does the best job at creating a look full of luxurious lashes. When I wear this mascara, my eyes make a statement. I can’t get enough of it.

  4. Verb Ghost Oilfull size retails  at $14.00
This product is amazing, smells amazing, and has an amazing price point. I do not try hair oils often (because, like most, I’m afraid it’s going to leave my hair greasy) but alas this hair oil has stuck with me. I continually reach for this after washing my hair to disperse through my ends. The light scent is very nice and feminine, but not overwhelming. This product does a great job at sealing in moisture and repairing damaged hair. I will certainly repurchase once I finish the tube.

  5. NYX Butter Lipstickfull size retails at $6.00
This is one of the creamiest lipstick formulas. I’m also a huge fan of the e.l.f. moisturizing lipsticks ($3 and decent wear time), but there’s something about these butter lipsticks that are so soothing on the lips. It’s like giving your lips a drink of water. That being said, they are pretty slippery, so application takes a bit longer than slapping on a liquid lippie, but it’s well worth the time for the color payoff and hydrating formula.

  6. Any of the lip scrubs I’ve received. I am totally new to this type of product and I LOVE it! I’m loving exfoliating my lips before slapping on a hydrating lip balm.
Jelly Pong Pong Coffee + Coconut lip scrub ($19.00) this scrub has a little bit of a “wet” texture to it. It’s less gritty than your typical lip scrubs, and might be best for the people just starting out exfoliating their lips.
Indi Beauty Buttercream lip scrub ($11.99) this scrub is a lot grittier and definitely does a great job at exfoliating your lips prior to moisturizer. It primes them perfectly.

    untitled63

So that’s a round-up of my all time favorite Ipsy products thus far! Do some of these match your list of favs? What have you gone out and repurchased? I want to know!
