I am very “middle of the road” about this dry shampoo. I would give it 6/10. The scent is incredible and it’s not the worst I have tried. It does better than Herbal Essences but doesn’t hold a candle to Batiste. Solid: 6/10. Thanks for watching!

August/September IPSY Bag Reviews!

“Did I really let this happy again? This is my second 2-in-1 Ipsy review post #lazy”

IMG_20170914_211744

Here we are again! Another round of double Ipsy bag reviews. I’m sure y’all don’t mind it tho, right? More products to read about 😉

Anyways, I’m not here to bore you … ZzZzZzZz

Here’s August’s bag:

  1. First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clayretails for $24.00
I am actually loving this cleanser! I am using it every other night after my Philosophy face wash to get a deep clean of my pores and remove any excess oil. It is geared towards those with oily, acne-prone skin to use every day. However, if you have normal skin you can use this every couple days as a “deep cleanse.” I have used this a few times and do notice it tackles under the skin blemishes, and I will continue to include it in my skincare routine!
  2. theBalm Voyage Vol. 2 Eyeshadow in Willkommenretails as part of an eyeshadow palette for $39.50
I gotta be honest – I threw this right in the trash. It wasn’t a bad shade, it was a rich medium/dark brown, but it had SPARKLES in it. Do I want to put sparkles onto the outer corner of my eye to smoke out a look? Nada.
  3. Make Up Forever Excessive Lash Arresting Volume Mascararetails for $25
This mascara was OK. It wasn’t anything to write home about. If anything, it’s a great bottom-lash mascara because of the skinny wand. When I use it on my upper lashes, it doesn’t give a lot of volume/length. Then to factor in the cost, no I won’t be repurchasing.
  4. Hikari Shimmer Bronzer in Flushretails for $17
I only have two things to say about this:
    – I threw this out
    – It looked cheap and I’m not one for bronzer/blush combos
  5. Paula Dorf Mini Universal Brow Pencil in Taupe – I can’t even find this on her website so that’s helpful
Also, this product was a no for me. I’m not a huge fan of brow pencils, like actual pencils you write with. It was too pointy and stiff for me to disperse product. I’ll be throwing this out.

Onto September’s bag:

  1. Luxie Beauty Angled Shading Eye Brush #207retails for $12
IPSY CAN SEND ME ALL THE EYE BRUSHES – I’ll never tire of them! And for the price point, Luxie is a steal as far as brushes are concerned. They’re great quality, get the job done, and are marked at a fabulous price point. This brush is great for the blending out crease shades, as it has a flexibility to it that other dense blending brushes don’t have.IMG_20170914_211852
  2. Bio Fresh Mask with Real Calming Herbretails for $41
I am not sure how to feel about this mask. I mean, shoutout to Ipsy for hooking us up with a decent amount of it (I could probably get 5-7 uses out of this sample). However, I do not really notice any changes/improvements in my skintone/texture after using this mask. In fact, the first morning after I used it I woke up with 3 under the skin blemishes, so.. there’s that.
If I had to go from my experience with it thus far and the price, I certainly wouldn’t repurchase.IMG_20170914_211842
  3. Smashbox Photo Finish Radiance Primerretails for $39
I gave this shizzz to a friend because YA GIRL IS OILY AF. Also, $40 for a primer? I’ll pass.IMG_20170914_211829
  4. Feel Renewed Pumpkin Walnut Facial Cleanserretails for $28
This pumpkin walnut facial cleanser is a fall scent in a bottle – but not in a bad way! I enjoy all fall scents and am okay with lathering this onto my face. I won’t say it’s a game-changer, but it’s a nice product. I didn’t notice it particularly solving all the world’s skincare issues, so I probably won’t spend $28 to purchase the full size.
    IMG_20170914_211817
  5. Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes The Shadow in Gunmetalretails for $13
This shade is cool as shit, and I’m super stoked to use this for a dark/vampy smokey eye this fall (if I ever get the balls to dabble in that realm). It swatches like a dream.

    IMG_20170914_211907

And that’s everything! 10 product reviews! PHEW. I’m tired. No wonder why I try not to skip Ipsy bag reviews each month. That is work to review ten products in one sitting. Please let me know if you’ve tried any of these products! Did something work out for you that didn’t for me? Should I give something a second try?

EMPTIES/THROW-A-WAYS Segment!

“I know everyone loves a good “empties” post – like, will I repurchase? Read to find out!”

Over the last month or so, I’ve had a paper bag below my beauty vanity to throw out items I am just not using or have used up! I always love when bloggers/YouTubers create “empties” content because that means they have fully invested in a product and are ready to give some kickass reviews.

The main question I am going to answer is: Will I repurchase? Because, let’s be honest, if I’m not willing to repurchase then I’m obviously not that into it.

Product #1: Garnier Refreshing Gel-Cream
I emptied this baby in like 6 weeks – IT’S SO GOOD. I have a full review at the link above and would highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in finding a moisturizer alternative. It’s great for the oily-skinned folks like myself. V lightweight and a super affordable option.
Will I repurchase? YES! And I have already done so.

IMG_20170809_195711

Product #2: Ulta Mineral Bronzer
I can’t find this on Ulta’s website anymore, so I’m assuming they did away with this formula. It was glittery and pretty orange. I gave up on it when I transitioned to my Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer.
I do see Ulta has a new matte bronzer on their website so maaaybe I’ll give it a try next time I’m perusing the makeup aisle.
Will I repurchase? No, there are much better options.

IMG_20170809_200025

Product #3: COVERGIRL Outlast Lip Color
These are actually really great lip stains! I’m not sure if CoverGirl still sells them in drugstores/Walmarts, but I remember really loving this in college, and I have a hometown bestie to thank for that (s/o to you Lauren).
Will I repurchase? If they have something similar, yes, I would!

IMG_20170809_195939

Product #4: Biore Charcoal Pore Strips
I. don’t. like. these. The original pore strips by Biore are great and I will definitely purchase those again, but the charcoal ones make no difference in my t-zone’s oil production and don’t stick to my nose properly. I have a “Charcoal vs. The Original” pore strips debate at the link above if you’re interested!
Will I repurchase? No.

IMG_20170809_200043

Product #5: e.l.f Undereye Setting Powder
This is a THROWAWAY for me. I’ve heard a lot of beauty YouTubers recommend this, but I cannot get on board. It was sparkly, and I’m not about glitter and sparkles under my eyes. The only pro about this product was that it cost $3.00.
Will I repurchase? No.

Product #6: Maybelline Colossal Mascara
This was a good product, and I am a fan of Maybelline’s mascaras. However, now that I know so much more about affordable options that are dupes for high end brands (*cough, cough* here’s to you, L’Oréal Lash Paradise), I don’t think I will be repurchasing this.
Will I repurchase? Probably not, but it was good while I used it.

IMG_20170809_200116

So that’s it for this empties segment! Is this something that interests anyone else? I’d love to know so I can continue to collect empty products. I know everyone loves a juicy review.

July IPSY Review

“This bag had very experimental products.”

So I genuinely did like this month’s bag. It gave me a product I’ve never used (brow cream), a new light moisturizer to try, and a staple blending brush to pack on darker colors.

Let’s get on with the review!

  1. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer – Park Ave Princess (retails for $30.00)
It’s not bad.. but I’m not living for it either. I wish I had gotten the matte version of this, because this bronzer is meant to give you a subtle “sun kissed glow.” The sun kissed I’m okay with, but the glowy bronzer es no bueno.
Again, it’s not a bad bronzer. It will definitely do the trick, but do I think I’ll repurchase? No. Considering you can get the Physician’s Formula butter bronzer for $15.00 at the drugstore, I am not convinced I need the Tarte one in my life.
    Would I repurchase? No.
  2. Chella Eyebrow CreamTantalizing Taupe (retails for $26.00)
I don’t know how to feel about this! The product is cool – but, I am also a complete newb when it comes to filling in my brows. I was doing my best not to go heavy-handed, and I think this product is great for a beginner (like myself). I wish the color was a little lighter, but I didn’t want that to affect my review. I do like it! And will continue to use it.
    Would I repurchase? Potentially!IMG_20170725_200623
  3. IBY Beauty Crease Brush (retails for $12.00)
I love this! Just the brush I wanted to add to my collection and I have already used it to smoke out darker shadows in the outer-v of my eye and into my crease. This is a great staple item to have and I am happy I received it!
    Would I repurchase? Definitely.IMG_20170725_200653
  4. Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet (retails for $39.00)
This price is so outrageous lol. The moisturizer is nice, and kind of doubles as a primer once it dries, as it is rather tacky. So, if you were looking to use it as a moisturizing primer, then I suppose I could be convinced of the price. However, I don’t see any difference in how this makes my skin look/feel than when I use my Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream (which is a fraction of the price), except for the fact that the Caudalie makes my skin tacky.
PS – does anyone else think this smells like peanuts? Just me?
    Would I repurchase? No.IMG_20170725_200528
  5. OFRA Cosmetics EyeshadowGold Rush (refill retails for $12.00)
I was underwhelmed when I first tried this out, as I was expecting more pigment from Ofra. Typically, their eyeshadows are v vibrant and colorful, but I didn’t get that from this gold. Then I swatched it again, and BAM. I got a lot more color payoff, however, I can find better shimmer shadows in my Carli Bybel palette that retails for $14.50.
    Would I repurchase? No.

So that was my July bag! What are your thoughts? Did you get any of the same products? What did you love/hate?

Magical Makeup Monday: February IPSY Review

“Give me all the makeup!”

untitled34

For this month’s Ipsy bag, I got a lot of variety! We have some skincare, a face tool, and three different makeup products. For those of you wondering, Ipsy is a $10/month makeup bag subscription tailored to suit your wants/needs! It is perfect for experimenting with new brands and products, as well as skincare items. I have yet to be disappointed with Ipsy’s services, though I will admit I’ve been considering Boxycharm as of late – but that’s a whole other story.

Let’s jump into this:

  1. NYX Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry I quite enjoy this lipstick, and the color is right down my alley! True to its name, when applied, this lipstick has a smooth velvety and buttery glide to it. It feels SO comfortable on the lips, and the color applies nicely. You definitely have to layer it for full-coverage on the lips, but the color turns out nicely. I can’t speak to the longevity of this lipstick, but I can report that it does transfer and really doesn’t dry down to a matte finish (for those of you wondering).
    This retails for $6.00.

2. IBY Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly I am kinda “ehhhh” about this product. I should disclaim: I’m not a huge highlighter fanatic, I’m really not experienced when it comes to this product. That being said, this highlighter didn’t seem to have much color payoff, and came off very pinky as opposed to a real “shine factor.” This wasn’t my cup of tea, but presumably fits other’s interests?
This retails for $12.00.

3. Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Daily Facial Scrub This might’ve been the winner for me this month! I’m already a huge skincare geek, and this daily exfoliator feeds right into my obsession. Currently, I use the Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub, which is super gentle on my skin, but much less gritty. This Promise Organic scrub, blended with organic walnuts and sugar, contains much more beads for a deeper exfoliation. Don’t let this scare you, as it claims to be safe for sensitive skin as well as daily use. I am really loving this so far.
This retails for $9.99.

untitled26
4. Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer LADIES. This might be the creamiest, smoothest bronzer I have ever swatched. That being said, they gave me a sample the size of a nickel, and I am hardly impressed with that. The color is a match and the formula is v blendable. I can hardly get my brush in this enough to give a solid review, and would love to get my hands on the full-sized item, though it comes at a pretty penny.
This retails for $25.00.

5. Luxie Beauty Brush 514 I really like this blush brush. This might’ve been my second favorite item in my bag this month. The brush applies product nicely, and picks up a good amount of color in my blushes. This is a very soft brush, and I’m hesitant to say “flimsy,” but it certainly isn’t as sturdy as some of my other brushes. It gives a lot as far as movement of a brush. I quite enjoy it and have officially added it to my collection!
This retails for $18.00.

So that’s it for my Ipsy bag review this month! Did you get any of the same products? What did you like and what didn’t tickle your fancy? Is there anything I need to spend my money on soon?!
